Bushing Wrench

I designed this bushing wrench to be utilized in fitting bushings.  I designed it specifically for the parts (EGW bushings) I use, and how I like to fit bushings.  There are many cheaper bushing wrenches available, and if you are wanting to use a wrench for disassembly, you may be happier with somebody else’s wrench. 

With that said, I did try to produce a high quality tool that is enjoyable to use.  I find I enjoy my time in the shop much more when I like the tools that I’m using. This wrench is thicker than most at .325” thick.  It is 1.400” wide and 6.00” long.  I put a generous round over on all of the edges.  The flange on an EGW bushing is .125 - .128”.  So I added a recess that is .120” deep.  This allows a barrel to pass through the wrench, but the bushing will hold the wrench off the face of the slide.  This will make the wrench last longer, and also keep the aluminum from wiping off onto your slide, especially if you’re fitting a new bushing to a slide that already has a finish on it.  The opposite side also has a .090” recess.  I will often thin the flange on the bushing, so this is designed to work in that instance.  It is finished in a Type 3 anodizing, which should offer the most durability that I can get out of an aluminum tool.
